In 1971, a Norwegian ship named SS Imo had to wait in the Halifax Harbour, Canada for two days for the coal to be delivered. By the time, a French ship called Mont Blanc was heading towards the same harbour. They tried to pass one another but it led to a massive explosion.

8. 12 million people lost their phone service because of a single 6 

In 1991, customers of Baltimore, Washington, Pittsburgh , San Francisco and Los Angeles lost their phone service. It was because a Bell employee had typed ‘6’ instead of ‘d’ in the software that controls signal regulation, due to this all the companies lost control of the network.
