4. Fa Mulan, Mulan.

When China was attacked by the Huns, one girl fought to her death to save her family. Mulan fought for her honor, she saves the Emperor, her father and scores of fellow soldiers, she never bows down to anybody, and what’s more she saves the people who always would never have given her time or importance as a fighter. She was a feminist to the core who never needed a male to come to her aid! She found peace and happiness with her skills.

5. Pocahontas, “Pocahontas”

Pocahontas is one of the few Disney films in which the heroine accepts that her destiny is bigger than any romance, and willingly chooses to forgo romantic happiness even though it’s right in her grasp. She defies her father and the “traditions” of her tribe. She saves the life of Smith and forces her tribe to open their minds, but in the end she realizes that life is more than just falling in love!

6. Elsa, “Frozen”

Of all the Disney princesses, Princess Elsa, or more aptly Queen Elsa is my favorite! She is one hell of an ice queen and doesn’t need  doesn’t need a man to run her kingdom. Though initially she is a bit troubled due to her powers, but then she gets a grip over it and builds up a beautiful ice castle. She also keeps her prototype Disney princess sister for marrying that oaf Prince. The themes of independence and family over all else makes Elsa more of a feminist than some of her other “happily ever after” princesses.
