8. Maleficent, “Maleficent”

Enough about the Disney princesses, here we have someone who was most unlikely to give a princess her happily ever after. Maleficent is an evil witch who cursed Princess Aurora, also known as Sleeping Beauty to fall into a death like sleep. Over the years, Maleficent kept watch over Aurora and grew attached to her, despite of trying to keep her away from the curse, she fails and Aurora falls into a deep death like sleep. Now according to tradition, a prince was suppose to save Aurora with his “kiss” but that didn’t work out so well. In the end she was saved by a kiss of true love indeed but by Maleficent herself. Both the female characters overcome their difficulties all by themselves and have their happily ever after.
