10. Does blood turn red on contact with oxygen?
We are often told that deoxygenated blood is Blue in colour and it only turns red on contact with oxygen. This is derived from the fact that our Veins seem to be Blue in colour. To be little precise, this is because of the phenomenon of refraction of light. This false theory definitely does not help at all.
11. Did Nero burn Rome down?
History has always regarded Nero as one of the villians who merrily watched Rome being burnt down. This is quite similar to the case of pot calling the kettle black. There are no evidences that he played any kind of music while the fire broke out. Historians today believe that he infact helped citizens during the disaster.
12. Diamonds are made from coal.
This is yet another funny lie taught to us during our school times. Diamonds are actually formed in vertical shafts full of rocks formed by volcanoes. Also, coal is found on surface of Earth while Diamond is found in Mantle. It is eventually carried up by volcanic eruptions.
