6) Swades
This is a story of an affluent and successful man who in search of his roots stumbles upon varying virtues, beliefs and practices prevalent in his native village. This discovery leads to freedom within as he struggles to bring about change in the village. Swades is a very telling tale of independent India.It is one of the movies that really awakens the patriotism in us.

5) The Patriot
A family man who has a dark past is forced into a battle he is reluctant to fight. He finally accepts his destiny and while overcoming the loss of loved ones, the man fights for independence of a new nation.
