You must have noticed, at least once, that in public restrooms, the toilet doors are never fully enclosed. Many people even complain about it because who doesn’t love complete privacy inside a restroom? However, complaining without knowing why these toilet doors are made like this is a stupid thing to do. Actually, there are a number of reasons why the toilet doors have a little opening at the bottom and all of them makes complete sense. If you have ever wanted to know, here are the reasons:
1. Cleaning Is Much Easier
Having small openings at the bottom of the toilet doors makes it much easier for the custodian to run his/her mop under the door instead of completely opening it.
2. Only One Person Required
Since the job of cleaning becomes much easier, only one worker would be required to do the whole work.
3. Checking
People can easily check if a toilet is occupied, without having to bang on every other door.
4. Less Noise
Since checking becomes easy, there is not a lot of noise that is caused and people patiently wait for their turn.
5. Providing Toilet Papers
If someone is running out of toilet papers, another person can easily hand him/her some papers.
6. Restricts Two People
Two people can be inside a toilet and do things they shouldn’t be doing if the doors are not fully enclosed.
7. Medical Emergency
Any medical emergency such as passing out would never go unnoticed. People would be able to notice if there is something wrong.
8. Cheaper To Build
Along with all those advantages, it is also cheaper to build the toilet doors without fully enclosing them.
9. You Won’t Get Locked
Even if you get yourself locked, you can climb over or go under to come out of the toilet.
10. Restricts Illegal Things
People do illegal things behind the fully enclosed doors. These partially enclosed ones stop those from happening.
