If you think deleting your browser history can hide it permanently and no can access it then you are mistaken. As the Investigatory Powers Bill passes into law, internet providers will be required to keep a full record of every site that each of its customers have visited. So before you Google anything, there are agencies that can now get access to your browsing history. Now Organizations including the Food Standards Agency and the Department for Work and Pensions can get access to a UK citizen’s entire internet browsing history in weeks.
The Investigatory Powers Bill, which was all but passed into law this week, forces internet providers to keep a full list of internet connection records (ICRs), browsing history for a year and to make them available to the Government if they need to access them.
For those of you in the UK, here is a list of some people that can now access your internet browsing history which is laid out in Schedule 4 of the bill
1. Metropolitan Police Service
2. City of London Police
3. Police forces maintained under section 2 of the Police Act 1996
4. Police Service of Scotland
5. Police Service of Northern Ireland
6. British Transport Police
