Long-distance relationship is not easy to maintain. But where there is love there is a way. Thanks to social media, love knows no boundaries. This Canadian woman fell in love with Romel from Philippines on social media.
It all started with a friend request on Facebook in 2009. They started chatting and their friendship grew. It was surprising how much they were alike. Eventually they fell in love with each other and confessed it.
Instead of being a long-distance relationship in which they have never met each other, the bond grew stronger each day. They dated for 2 years like that.
When it was becoming too difficult to stay apart, in 2012 the Canadian woman boarded a plane to General Santos city in the southern part of Philippines, to meet the love of his life for the first time.
She traveled 8,000 miles but it was worth it. The moments she spent with him were priceless and they had a great time together.
But then again it was time to say goodbye. It was really hard to separate again but this did not affect their relationship. They started feeling more intensely about each other.
They found it even more difficult to stay apart from each other. So they wanted to find a permanent solution for this. And they found it.
After a couple of months this Canadian woman flew again to Philippines, but this time to marry the love of her life. It was just like a fairytale.
They finally tied the knot on August 10, 2013 going against all odds.
