We all agree on one point that hair is very important and dear to us. Hence, the health of our hair is a very big concern. There are a lot of myths surrounding this topic which are necessary to be busted to actually accelerate the hair growth.
Myth #1: Hairfall always needs to be treated.
There are two times in a year (called to be the resting phase or telogen), especially Spring and Autumn when the hair growth stops and they simply lie on our head. That’s the reason hair-fall in big amounts. But that is ok, as new hair takes the emptied place (anagen stage).
Myth #2: Hair Growth products actually work.
It is shocking how people actually believe in different myths. No cosmetic products have the capability to accelerate the growth, the speed is genetic.
Myth #3: The entire hair length requires to be cleaned with shampoo and conditioner.
Although it is very clearly printed on the back of the bottles, people believe in myths and ignore the instruction. Shampoos are for cleaning the scalp and conditioners are for the locks.
Myth #4: Styling products spoil your hair.
This is not completely incorrect. But if you can use the right kind of hair protection products before styling, they keep the hair shielded.
Myth #5: Cut your hair every month for faster growth.
Can you believe how stupid these myths came into existence? Hair grows from the roots and not tips, so cutting the tips won’t be of any help.
Myth #6: The more you cut your baby’s hair, the better the hair turns out to be.
Baby’s hair and adult’s hair are different. But this has no connection with cutting. The hair anyway changes shape and style as someone grows up.
Myth #7: Keratin Straightening gives a healthy glow to hair.
Nonsense! It chemically gives a shine to the hair which comes at the cost of hair loss and definitely in no way makes the hair healthy.
Myth #8: Blonde girls always have lesser hair compared to brunettes.
Facts show that actually, the reverse is true. As blondies have very thin hair, it makes the hair appear lesser.
Myth #9: Tightly tied ponytails and buns for long leads to hair loss.
Sorry if it’s your favourite hairstyle but your hair needs air. Never fasten these hairdos very tightly.
Myth #10: Dandruff can spread from one person’s hair to another.
Some myths have clung to our head like dandruff. Dandruff is just exfoliation of dead skin cells carried out by sebaceous glands. Different people have different speeds of exfoliating.
Myth #11: Men’s hair is better than women’s hair.
Hair does not discriminate. The fact is due to styling and salon treatments women’s hair become thinner with time. Whereas men are not much involved in styling and hairdos, protecting their hair from harshness.
Myth #12: Brush your hair as many times as possible for faster growth.
The myths get circulated like laws which people follow blindly. Brush your hair only to detangle or style them. Over-brushing affects the hair’s cuticle.
