11. Alluri Sitarama Raju
Another one who makes it to the list of unsung heroes.
Alluri Sitarama Raju was another awe-inspiring tribal trailblazer, who had the courage to pioneer the Rampa Rebellion against the British Raj. Alluri, who is often hailed as “Manyam Veerudu,” was successful in obliterating several British soldiers, but was eventually killed during one of his revolts.
12. Raj Kumari Gupta
One of the leading lights in India’s fight for independence, she took the grave responsibility of providing revolvers to patriotic leaders, upon her shoulders, and accompanied by her husband, she assisted Chandrashekhar Azad in his revolutionary activities.
It is very important that we as citizens of this country recognize all the heroes a.k.a freedom fighters of our country because it wasn’t the contribution of one or two people who gave a sovereign and free country. It was the effort of the whole country together and it is only just we remember all of them who took major initiatives. The stories of these heroes shouldn’t remain unsung anymore. They aren’t unsung heroes of India!
They are the very core of our freedom struggle. They are the very melody of the National Anthem we sing every day! How can they remain unsung?
