At that time, he was doing small films or Broadway shows at the most.

When Marvel Hired him, it was a big deal.

Marvel at that time was a big name, not as it is now, but it was still a big deal for them to cast someone out of the blue.

He made his debut in the first ‘X-Men’ film.

And that movie as we know was a huge success and started the superhero movie trend.

He portrayed Wolverine in the best way anyone can.

The character was angry, ruthless, and yet kind and caring, and Hugh depicted all of that perfectly just according to the character.

Many think Logan was probably his best Movie.

Logan was supposed to be the last movie for the character and there was no way Hugh Wanted to mess it up. He delivered his career best and the most dramatic end to the superhero possible.

However, at the very beginning of his time as Wolverine, it wasn’t always easy.

As revealed by him, he was nearly fired from the role.

He was told that things weren’t working out.

“I was about to get fired from my first Hollywood movie – the biggest of my career. I was angry, I went home to my wife and I complained.” Hugh said.

His wife gave him advice that made him correct himself.

She told him, “You are worrying way too much about what everything else is thinking. Just go back to the character, focus on that, trust your instinct… you’ve got this.”

This advice changed his mind.

He totally understood and just focused on his character and nailed it.

What if he didn’t play the character?

Let’s just leave that to some alternate reality where the best version of Logan wasn’t there to save them and make a place in their hearts.
