13. Stopping in your tracks to take a selfie

Grocery store? Selfie. Class? Selfie. Church? Selfie. Death? Selfie. You are shameless, and will literally stop in your tracks to capture the perfect selfie. What’s a better time than now? And to be honest, the world depends on it! OK, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but you catch our drift. Let’s face it, we’re all guilty of this. It doesn’t matter where you are, what you’re doing, or who’s watching—sometimes you have to stop everything you’re doing (even if you’re dying) to snap that selfie. I mean, because if you didn’t document it with a selfie, how did we really know it happened?! Seriously, how do we know?!

14. You can’t go anywhere without documenting your selfie because your selfie game is so strong

Along with the advancement of technology and rise of social media, came the whole “unofficial” rule that each milestone in your life has to be documented with a selfie. Because if you didn’t snap a selfie, it never happened, right? Wrong—but let’s keep this going for the sake of the argument. This is quite a change from the days when people actually lived in the moment and never even thought about documenting every single waking moment with a selfie. Even as someone who lived through those days, I can barely remember what it was like to not take selfies every time something major happened. It feels like a distant memory. Subconsciously, we feel like we have to solidify every life event with a selfie, as for some reason, we want our followers to have visual proof that it actually did happen.

15. Pretty selfie but there is something weird lurking in the background

So you finally got your lighting right, and you’re well on your way to the best selfie you’ve ever taken in your entire life. You snap the pic, check it out, and then—damnit—you realize you didn’t check the background first before snapping. A rookie mistake, but mistake nonetheless, and a pretty embarrassing one, too, depending on what you have lurking around in your background. You’d certainly be surprised, and maybe even mortified.

That’s why it’s super important to make sure you take your selfie in a clean environment—just to be on the safe side. When in doubt, check your surroundings and make sure there’s nothing creeping around in the background that you’ll never be able to live down, or even worse, that will be shared with millions on social media! Yikes.
