6. My Best Friend’s Birthday (1987)
This was a black-and-white amateur short film written by Craig Hamann and Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tarantino who also starred in it, about a young man who continually tries to do something nice for his friend’s birthday, but all his efforts backfire in a comical way. The reasons this film could not be completed because the original 70 minutes of the footages were destroyed in a fire and only 36 minutes could be salvaged, which has been screened at several film festivals and was officially released on the 2 disc edition of Pulp Fiction, but the 70-minute version is considered lost.Most of the actors in this film later appeared in Tarantino’s other films Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Kill Bill.
7. The Brave (1997)
The Brave was the only film directed and co-written by Johnny Depp and starred alongside Marlon Brando, the film was adapted from the Gregory McDonald novel of the same title, which revolves around a Native American man named Raphael and his young family, who is living in poverty and how he lives the final week of his life and coming to terms with his fate, before being tortured and killed for a snuff film, which he agrees to do for a large sum of money. The film was completed and first shown at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival where it received mixed reviews. The film was released in theaters and on DVD internationally, but not in the United States as the American reviewers were very critical of the film.
8. Empires Of The Deep (2010)
This is a 3D action-adventure fantasy film conceived by Jon Jiang, directed by Michael French, written by Randall Frakes and starring former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko. The film was an unlikely love story between a young human and a mermaid, set in a mythical world and was a major US-Chinese co-production costing over $130 million. As of June 2017, this completed film is yet to release after going through 4 directors, 10 scriptwriters and with many of the actors, production and technical crews yet to be paid, due to over-budget, so many were the reasons, for it not releasing.
